Powering New Mexico, one neighbor at a time.

Solscribe is a New Mexico community solar program built on a simple idea: everyone deserves to save on their electric bill and support clean energy — whether or not they own their roof. We're a local New Mexico team, and we partner with solar farms right here in the state to send credits straight to your existing utility bill. No panels, no installation, no cost to join. You keep your same utility company — your bill just gets smaller. Renters, homeowners, and income-qualified households are all welcome, and every subscriber helps build more community solar for New Mexico.

You keep your same utility company. Nothing changes except your bill gets smaller. We handle everything behind the scenes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I own the solar panels on my roof?

No — nothing is installed on your property. You're allocated a portion of solar energy produced by our community solar farms located around New Mexico. The farms are owned and maintained by Affordable Solar Group. You simply receive monthly credits on your utility bill.

Why do you need my payment information to enroll?

Community solar works through two separate bills, so we keep a payment method on file. First, your share of the solar farm shows up as a credit that lowers your utility bill (PNM, El Paso Electric, or Xcel). Then Solscribe invoices you for those credits minus your discount — 10% standard, or 28% income-qualified — so our invoice is always smaller than the credit you received. You come out ahead every month, and if there are no credits in a given month, there's no charge. Here's the 55-second version:

Will my electric bill definitely go down?

Yes — your bill will decrease by the amount of the solar credit you receive each month. Credits are applied to energy charges only, not fixed monthly charges or taxes. Most families see a 10% reduction in their energy charges, with income-qualified households eligible for 20-30% savings.

What happens if I move?

If you move, you can transfer your solar allocation to your new address (if eligible), or cancel your enrollment at no cost. No penalties or fees apply. See your enrollment agreement for complete details.

How long is the contract?

The agreement runs 25 years, which locks in your solar credit rate for the full term — but you can cancel anytime with no early-cancellation fee. You get long-term rate protection without ever being locked in.

How are credits calculated?

Credits are based on your allocated share of solar energy production, multiplied by your utility's energy rate. As your utility rates increase (normal inflation), your credit value increases proportionally — you're protected against rising electricity costs.

Do I need good credit to enroll?

No — there's no credit check. You need only be a current customer of PNM, El Paso Electric, or Xcel Energy in New Mexico. Enrollment is based on your utility account eligibility, not credit history.

Can I see the disclosure agreement before I enroll?

Yes — you can view completed examples of the exact disclosure form you'll sign. The name, address, account number, and amounts shown are fictitious, for illustration only:
